Did you know you can create a piece of fabric with just wool, water and friction? Wet felting is one of the oldest ways of creating fabric and a fun and fascinating fiber arts activity for any age.
In this workshop, attendees will learn the basics of wet felting.
We will touch on the history of felting as an art form, learn about the process and science behind it, and discuss its intersections with trans identity as we work. Through experimentation with various natural fibers, fabric and yarn scraps, we will be playing with color blending and texture creation. Participants will go home with at least one piece of felt they create.
This is a beginner level workshop - no prior fiber arts experience needed. Materials will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring any yarn or fabric scraps they may have.
